Course Contents

Concepts covered: cutting and storing clay, rotational moulding, carving, layering, vertical and horizontal sculpting, observational skills

Lesson 1: Making a Pinch Pot. Introduction to cutting and storing clay, rotational moulding of clay and carving of decorative elements.

Lesson 2: A Coil pot. Creating coils, layering and stacking clay, vertical sculpture.

Lesson 3: Clay frames: cut outs, carving, layering decorative elements

Lesson 4: Coil and spiral pot; vertical sculpture, creating spirals, building on skills from lesson 2, combining coils and spirals.

Lesson 5: Portraits sculpture: horizontal sculpting, carving and building up, creating from observation.

Lesson 6: Name plates: creating a flat even surface with defined edges. Building up and carving in decorative elements. Creating a personalised piece.

Skill Level

This is a beginner level course, suitable for 4-13 years. Parents/teachers/caregivers are encouraged to take part in the lessons alongside their children!
